Forte di Naole – Castelletto

Forte di Naole

The challenging and long day tour from Castelletto to Forte di Naole covers all facets of the uphill and downhill sections and offers pure Lake Garda feeling.

Description

The starting point of the tour is the eastern shore of Lake Garda near Castelletto. The typically Italian and idyllic village with a fantastic panorama is the start of the uphill. An interesting mix of asphalt including fabulous panoramic views, forest sections, long crossings, steep gravel passages and finally the arrival at the Forte di Naole let 1630 meters of altitude pass. At the highest point of the tour at the former Forte di Naole from the First World War, you can expect a fabulous panorama, especially when visibility is good.

The descent is first-class. It briefly heads north and then begins a pleasant roll-in phase on difficulty S0 to S1 before you essentially take the direttissima downhill via Prada to the lakeshore. An interesting mix of trails typical of Lake Garda with limestone, root passages, flow sections, as well as rough gravel and lost places is on offer along the entire descent. The last section in particular is long and allows you to collect many more trail meters before you finally arrive near Marniga on Lake Garda and comfortably roll back to the starting point along the lakeside promenade.
