Monte Pastello
Description
The tour starts in Dolcé, not far from the village of Garda. From here, the route takes you along the Adige towards Ceraino. In Ceraino, you cross the SS12 town road and wind your way up the old military road via Forte Ceraino to Forte Monte on a constant gradient and gravel surface. You already lose a lot of time in this section, as you have to stop regularly to admire the historic buildings and the wonderful panorama. From Forte Monte, the route continues on asphalt to Molane. From Molane it gets steeper and this is where the hard work of the tour comes to the fore. If you want to add another 150 meters in altitude and enjoy the view, you can add the pre-summit of Monte Pastello to the route. In terms of trail technique, this detour is at S1 level, but the panorama is a highlight. For everyone else, the route continues from the saddle in the direction of Dolcé.
As far as the descent in general is concerned, it goes steadily downhill from the summit. Initially only at S1 level as described, it then briefly goes downhill on a gravel road and from the saddle it gets crisper. At difficulty level S3, you cross the western section of Monte Pastello before ending up on an old, unfinished military road. You then surf down this road for what feels like half an eternity at S1 level, but don't overestimate your speed. The surface changes again and again to heavy loose gravel and washed-out sections. Concentration is therefore required here. In the last hairpin bend, you take the last trail cut-off towards Dolcé and you arrive back in civilization in the village center. Conclusion: All in all, a fantastic tour in a rather unknown area, which can be ridden almost all year round and is particularly recommended due to its historical background.
