Monte Vignola
Description
The tour starts in Avio in the Adige Valley south of Rovereto. From here, the route climbs up the pass road to San Valentino at a constant gradient. The views are fantastic and you will notice the solitude far away from the nearby hustle and bustle of Lake Garda. At San Valentino, take the road on the right towards Corno della Paura, which eventually changes from asphalt to gravel before reaching the first culmination point of the tour at an altitude of 1518 meters above sea level. From Corno della Paura, the breathtaking military road leads back through the old tunnels and with a slight ascent of around 200 meters to the summit of Monte Vignola. From here, the panoramic view of the Adige Valley is breathtaking, with unrestricted views in all directions in good weather. In spring and autumn in particular, the summit is an ideal place to recharge your batteries.
The descent runs directly along the southern slope and follows the ascent route to the saddle before taking Sentiero 687 to Castello dei Sabbionara d'Avio. At S2 level throughout (S3 in places), this trail monster winds its way down to the valley floor for what feels like miles. From Sabbionara, it is only a few meters back to Avio, with Sabbionara offering plenty of opportunities for a short break after the tour.Map & GPX-Track

I rode the tour on 20.04.24. The ascent through the Valle dei Molini on the pass road is really beautiful. The traffic is limited. The whole ascent is a bit long, but always pleasant to pedal. The views on the crossing from Corno della Paura to Monte Vignola are fantastic. The trail is brilliant and great fun! The trail winds its way down in a nice and narrow way.
