Heimgarten
Description
In Ohlstadt, the start is easy, take the road to Eschenlohe and turn off above Eschenlohe towards Heimgarten. The tarred road splits and you can take the more leisurely route on the right or (as in this GPX track) take the forest road past Wengwies Castle, which has a number of steep ramps in store. After a while, you come to the wide forest road towards Heimgarten and ride to the left. The route continues uphill for another five kilometers until you turn right at the junction onto a narrower forest road. Now the actual ascent to Heimgarten begins. The forest road soon becomes a cart track and then a trail that rides to the summit. The view up here is fantastic.
You can either stop off at the Heimgarten hut or take the way back (this is the easier option). From the summit, you can take the technical trail, which is partly exposed and challenging and leads back to the approach trail after 800 meters. Flowy and gravely with many hikers, you ride to the Rauheck junction. The rooty path below the Rauheck climbs up to the ridge at the beginning. Not too difficult at first, the trail begins to descend quite steeply at Buchrain. It is peppered with hairpin bends, the ground is interspersed with rocks and roots. And demands the utmost concentration. At the bottom of the alpine meadows, keep right and take the trail to Ohlstadt. This now becomes quite bumpy. Loose scree, roots and ledges make the descent more difficult. After a while, the trail turns into a forest road and leads you directly back to Ohlstadt and the starting point.

Demanding and varied - great tour. Also great without the detour to the summit.
