Soiernspitze
Description
The starting point is the small village of Krün, where you soon leave the village center and pedal up a forest road. The Fischbachalm is the first striking point of this tour. Here you "lose" a few meters in altitude and reach the valley station of the material cable car. Now the ascent to the Soiernhaus begins. In parts, the best way to make progress is by pushing and carrying. Lake Soiernsee, a true natural gem, lies at the height of the Soiernhaus. Cross it and climb steadily up the north side towards Soiernspitze with your bike on your back. The uphill to the so-called Soiernscharte is no walk in the park. Loose scree and some alpine passages make it very challenging and energy-sapping. At the Soiernscharte, a fabulous panorama opens up and the highest point of the tour, the Soiernspitze, is in sight. The summit itself is very isolated, but of course the panoramic view is indescribable.
The trail descent is also in a class of its own. Difficulty S3 is almost unbeatable here. You can put your biking skills to the test on hairpin bends, loose scree, stone steps and other massive drops. Finally, after the challenging descent, you come to the Vereiner Alm, from where you ride steadily down the Karwendel loop on an official cycle path before taking on some trail cutters and finally rolling back along the Isar to the starting point.
