Schürpfeneck
Description
Our tour starts in the beautiful Isarwinkel on the edge of the Karwendel, in the village of Fall to be precise. In 1959, when the Sylvenstein reservoir was built, the village of Fall, which was actually located right next to the bridge, was relocated to its current location. The tour takes us along the forest road in a southerly direction close to the shores of Lake Sylvenstein. After about one kilometer, we turn right and cross the Schürzengraben, then turn right up a very steep cart path, which eventually turns into a path. You push and carry your bike up this path for around five kilometers and 750 metres in altitude. Only very small sections are rideable. At the top of the Schürpfeneck, you have a magnificent view over the Isar valley and the Sylvenstein reservoir on one side and the Karwendel mountains on the other.
After a short rest, the trail gets down to business, no less difficult. First along the ridge, the trail leads down to the Sylvenstein reservoir and is very technical with a difficulty level of S3 and a few S4 sections. The trail is mostly stony and interspersed with rocks. It is easy to ride even in the rain. The trail winds around hairpin bend after hairpin bend until you reach the forest road again at the Walchenklamm gorge. Here, in the height of summer, you can take a quick dip in the water and wash away your exertions. The mountain water here is wonderfully refreshing. The forest road takes you back to Fall.
