Staffel

Staffel

A crisp tour on the Staffel with a very steep ascent and an equally challenging technical descent. Magnificent view of the Karwendel and the Sylvenstein reservoir.

Description

Start the tour in Jachenau at the kindergarten and ride in a southerly direction. At first, the forest road begins to climb slightly, then it becomes really steep and you will soon have to push. After around 500 meters in altitude, a hiking trail branches off to the right, where you have to shoulder your bike and carry it for around 20 minutes. The trail then becomes a little flatter and you can push and sometimes ride your bike. This is how you reach the Staffelalm. If you want, you can walk the 100 meters up to the summit. Otherwise, ride past the alpine pasture on the right and start the trail: very steep and exposed. Here you will have to push your bike in places due to erosion damage. In the middle section, the trail is very flowy and fast. In the lower section, it becomes technically demanding again. The trail is average in the S3 range with many S4 passages. Lots of roots in the forest, even more challenging when wet.
