Sylvensteinspeicher - Walchensee Runde
Description
You can start the tour at different places. Either at Walchensee or in Jachenau or, as described here in the text, at the end of the Sylvenstein reservoir. You can park at the debris barrier at the Sylvenstein reservoir and start the tour. Ride along the tarred road to Vorderriss and then continue along the toll road towards Wallgau. After about 5.6 kilometers a forest road branches off to Walchensee, Hochkopfhütte. The flowing trail down to Walchensee begins near the Hochkopfhütte. Fast bends with a few drops do not present any major obstacles. This takes you to the beautiful Walchensee, where you can admire the windsurfers as they glide across the water. The tarred road rides along the lake to Jachenau. You should take a break here, as this is where the tour really begins.
At the kindergarten, turn right and ride towards Staffel. The forest road climbs steeply and after a while you will see an alpine pasture and turn left onto a forest road in front of it. A small, not easy to find trail soon branches off here. This is easy to ride at first until the trail enters the Staffelgraben. Here it becomes very exposed. The trail runs steeply along the slope and is partially washed away. There is an acute danger of falling in many places. Once you reach the bottom of the gorge, the path leads back up over iron girders that have been carved into the rock. This section can be bypassed by climbing up the next left-hand stream inlet along the stream and rejoining the trail. From here, the trail slowly becomes rideable again until you reach a forest road. After about one kilometer, the Seibertsgrabentrail branches off to the right and leads to the Sylvenstein boulder barrier and back to the parking lot.
