Herzogstand – Pionierweg
Description
The tour starts above Urfeld am Walchensee at the Kesselbergsattel parking lot. If possible, you should not tackle the tour at the weekend, as there are a lot of hikers on the trail. Winter is also ideal when there is no snow. Take the forest road up to the left, which soon becomes really steep. The less fit bikers will have to push here. There is one ramp after another until you have struggled up to the Herzogstand mountain inn. From here, you can climb to the summit or stop off at the mountain hut.
Roll down the forest road of the ascent until a trail branches off from it and leads back up. This takes you to the start of the Pioneer Trail. First straight along the edge of the forest and briefly uphill into the forest until the trail soon descends. Partly exposed, it leads over roots and ledges high above the Kochelsee lake. There are a few hairpin bends along the way, which are easy to master with good technique. After a while, there is a short section of carrying before the trail descends again. After more than three kilometers, you reach the forest road and ride back to the Kochelberg parking lot.
