Monte Poccet
Description
The tour starts just below Pontebba in the small village of Pietratagliata. From here, the climb begins on the military road from World War I, which impresses with its very interesting engineering structures all the way to Malga Poccet. The Malga Poccet mountain hut is an ideal place to stop for refreshments and offers mountain bikers an impressive mountain backdrop with views of the Julian Alps.
Past Malga Poccet, the route continues along the road for a few meters on gravel before turning left onto "Sentiero 601." This former historic trail runs along the ridge towards La Veneziana and winds its way down the entire ridge to the valley floor.
Due to its low usage, the trail can be somewhat challenging to ride, especially in autumn and when the beech forests are covered in leaves. The rideability of the trail depends heavily on its current condition. If maintenance work has been carried out, the section with a difficulty rating of S2 to S3 is relatively easy to ride; otherwise, mountain bikers must also expect to encounter fallen trees or similar obstacles. After a descent of almost 1,000 meters, you reach the side road, which takes you back to the starting point in Pietratagliata.
