Monte Stabet

Ugovizza in the Kanaltal valley offers countless opportunities for mountain sports enthusiasts and mountain bikers will find perfect trails here. One of the best combinations can be found on the southern slopes of Monte Stabet.

Description

The starting point of the tour is Ugovizza, directly on the Alpe-Adria cycle route on the disused railroad line. From here, the route climbs steadily eastwards to Malborghetto. There you change to a gravel path and ride uphill along a former military road from the Second World War, which has been impressively built into the slopes. The views and the route are impressive, but the ascent requires a certain amount of strength as the path can be roughly gravelled in places and eroded by rainfall.

At the foot of Monte Stabet, you cross the mountain and follow the path to Malga Mezesnig. This is where the Mezesnig Trail begins. Between difficulty levels S1 and S2, the trail rides down the southern slopes and offers real flow on limestone and earthy passages. Back in Ugovizza, the trail then climbs again on another military road heading north. This leads to a chapel, after which you cross the Rio Rauna and reach the next trail - a typical trail for the Canal Valley.

On this so-called Puanina tour, you get an impressive insight into a unique trail. The trail is cross-country style, partly with rope safety, but not too difficult (difficulty S2). Pushing is required in some places and the bike has to be carried occasionally. Back in Ugovizza, the loop concludes with two very exciting descents.

Conclusion: Overall, the Ugovizza loop is a very interesting trail tour that is strongly influenced by the past and offers a good selection of varied trails.
