Forcella Cuel Tarond
Description
The tour starts a few meters after the village of Dogna, in Val Dogna near Chiout di Pupe. The route follows a relaxed, asphalt road with a strong historical character and countless information boards from the past up to the small village of Chiout. Here you can replenish your drinking water reserves before really getting down to business. The route is extremely steep and demanding as it climbs steadily towards the Deutsche Alm, or Sella Bieliga. An almost inhuman uphill makes it short and sweet before you reach the saddle. You then pedal along the forest road before pushing up an Alpini path towards Joch, or the former defensive fortifications from the First World War. Once you reach the highest point of the tour at 1750 m above sea level, you have a magnificent mountain panorama from Montasio in the south, over the Julian and Carnic Alps. The downhill itself is somewhat inconspicuous at first. You push along the traverse for a few meters before the path becomes more and more visible and finally leads down to the asphalt road at S1, S2 level in complete flow style. On countless hairpin bends past World War 1 defensive fortifications and a stone chair, you cover pretty much everything in the Donwhill. You then cross the Val Dogna asphalt road up to the galleries, push your bike down a few meters and have rideable passages in the crossing in the next trail section, but come to a dilapidated, historic road that is classified as S1, S0 difficulty. A pure flow trail leads down to Pleziche. The route continues with a small counter-climb and finally takes in a flowing trail section before rolling out onto the asphalt road back to the starting point. All in all, a very impressive, panoramic and technically fantastic trail tour, which can, however, be somewhat limited in summer due to the heavy vegetation and high temperatures.
