Forcella Vualt

Forcella Vualt

The Forcella Vualt crossing in Val Aupa reflects a lonely, varied and scenic mountain bike tour in the Kanaltal valley.

Description

The starting point is the village of Pradis. From here, you pedal steadily uphill on asphalt on various, mostly moderate gradients to the Rui da la Smesse parking lot. From Riu da la Smesse, the route continues on gravel and then slightly downhill on a military road to Rifugio Vualt. At the unattended Rifugio Vualt, you can top up your water reserves and take a break. From this point, the bike has to be pushed or carried up to Forcella Vualt at almost 1300 meters above sea level. Initially a little steep, later always flatter with pedalable passages, the route leads to the transition. This is embedded in beautiful beech forests and offers a fantastic trail descent in the upper section. At difficulty level S2, occasionally S3, it feels like half an eternity to the village of Dordolla. There are always clear areas on the descent where you have a fantastic view towards Creta Grauzaria and the Val Aupa. In Dordolla, you wind your way through the narrow alleyways and can stop for a bite to eat at the Alimentari da Fabio bar before taking the final trail to Torrente Aupa. The return journey is then relaxed on asphalt along the Torrente Aupa to the starting point in Pradis.
