Patocco Secret-Trail

Patocco Secret-Trail

The village of Patocco has grown into a trail hotspot since the main road was opened up and offers a seemingly endless descent for what feels like very little uphill.

Description

The route starts in the small town of Chiusaforte in the canal valley. From here, you wind your way along the main road through the Raccolana Valley. After a lake, turn left onto an old military road that climbs gently and then moderately steeply to the small village of Patocco. In Patocco, you are immersed in another world. Time seems to have stood still here. Beautiful houses and beautifully tended gardens and meadows make everything seem a little more cozy here. From Patocco, you then follow the old military road for around 200 meters up to the bench with a viewpoint. Once here, you have reached the highest point of the tour.

Starting at difficulty level S1 to S2, this ascent takes you back to Patocco. From Patocco itself, the former feeder trail then leads to Raccolana and offers a real trail monster. At difficulty levels S2 to S3, the slight incline makes it feel like an eternity to get back to the starting point. Passing beautiful waterfalls and fantastic mountain landscapes, it is not uncommon to come across ibex or other wild animals. Once back in the canal valley, Chiusaforte is the perfect place for a culinary stop.

Please do not always write about the Canal Valley in the descriptions. The canal valley ends correctly in Pontebba and then merges downstream into the Canal di Ferro.
