Forca Campidello - La Forchia

Forca Campidello

This very long loop ride in the heart of Friuli takes you over Forca Campidello and La Forchia. It offers stunning scenery and varied trail conditions—a true all-mountain ride.

Description

The tour begins in Resiutta. From there, follow the Alpe-Adria Cycle Route along the old railroad right-of-way to Venzone, passing impressive structures and enjoying the historic atmosphere. In Venzone, the climb—which is steep in places—begins on asphalt, offering stunning views toward Malga Ungarina and on to Malga Confin. In the heart of Friuli, amidst the karst and limestone, the landscape takes on a somewhat bizarre appearance.

Afterward, you’ll continue pushing your bike to Forca Campidello, the first pass. With a touch of Dolomite charm, the former military trail Sentiero 726—rated S2—leads to the junction with Sentiero 703. You’ll then push your mountain bike again to the next pass, La Forchia, at 1,192 meters above sea level, before the next descent along Sentiero 703 begins. The route continues eastward with similar difficulty until you reach the paved main road just above Lischiazze. From here, the climb continues on asphalt to Località Gost, after which the final trail shortcut leads directly to the Torrente Resia and into the Val Resia. Along the slopes of the steep karst peaks, the route takes you back to the tour’s starting point with a few interesting sections.

Overall, this is a long loop that can be completed on a lightweight e-mountain bike, even on the uphill sections.
