Monte Amariana
Description
The route starts in Amaro. From here, you wind your way along an old military road from the Second World War to Cristo di Forca. The entire uphill to this area is on a moderate gradient and on historic paths. This in itself is a huge highlight of the tour. From Cristo di forca, the bike is shouldered up to an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level. This is the point where a bike depot should be set up in case you want to tackle the summit. This can only be reached on foot without a bike. Only the last 50 meters of altitude can be descended here, the rest must be climbed up and down a rope-secured chimney.
The downhill from the rope-secured point is an absolute highlight. At difficulty level S3, in places S4, the route descends in countless serpentines. The view is breathtaking, and in good weather you can even see as far as the Mediterranean. The entire Tagliamento lies at your feet. At Cristo di forca, you are completely immersed in a different area - a jungle feeling emerges. From here, the route continues on a relatively technical trail, which becomes more flowy in the lower section and finally ends in Amaro. Conclusion: One of the top tours in the entire canal valley, although spring and fall should be considered here due to the high temperatures and southern exposure. Sufficient amounts of water should also be carried.
