Giadeit

The fascinating Giadeit offers some exciting trail descents, with the western variant providing a particularly attractive and sometimes challenging descent towards Imponzo.

Description

The mountain bike tour starts right in Tolmezzo. From here, the route leads along asphalt past the old military buildings of the Vallo Alpino, steadily uphill towards Illegio. Illegio is an idyllically situated village in the heart of Friuli. After a few meters on asphalt, mountain bikers continue pedaling before switching to gravel and finally heading towards Giadeit via a large detour.

The summit is only partially accessible, but can be integrated into the mountain bike tour, although descending from the highest point is not particularly advisable. Nevertheless, the rider is treated to interesting panoramic views time and again. However, most of the time is spent in wooded areas, especially in summer when the vegetation is high. From Giadeit, the rider continues on to the downhill trail, which has a difficulty rating of S2, S3 and is peppered with some interesting key sections such as hairpin bends, tight curves and crossings. In general, it is advisable to only tackle the tour in dry conditions, as the ground otherwise becomes too wet. In Imponzo, mountain bikers arrive at the valley floor, briefly use a highway as a transfer section, and return to the starting point via side roads.
