Colle dei Larici
Description
The tour begins at Sella Chianzutan. From here, you ride downhill on asphalt for a few meters before turning left onto the old access road and gravel farm road towards Cava di Marmo Rosso di Verzegnis, i.e., the quarry. You ride this road with a constant gradient to the Cjadrea viewpoint. Then you shoulder your mountain bike or push it uphill to Colle dei Larici. The landscape and views here are already very promising. You briefly cross the ridge and then take a short intermediate trail with a difficulty rating of S2 to the marble quarry. This variant avoids the tunnel passage and the steep section. Alternatively, you can stay on the forest road and take the tunnel entrance and the steep section. Continue on gravel to the agricultural buildings, before shouldering or pushing your mountain bike again, as the destination is Forcella Cormolina. Here, too, the view is very impressive, especially to the north towards the Carnic Alps and the Tagliamento River, as well as to the south towards the Prealps.
The descent is very technical and ranges between S2 and S3 levels. In the middle section, you can expect some very challenging and exposed sections. Finding an old historic path through the landscape is one of the highlights of this region. The trail becomes smoother as it descends, but the leaves of the beech forests require special attention here as well. Finally, you return to Sella Chianzutan, thus ending the tour.
