Cuel maior (Curiedi)

The Cuel Maior summit is located near Tolmezzo in the heart of the Carnic Alps and, thanks to its low altitude, offers an almost year-round bike adventure with great views.

Description

The route starts in Tolmezzo near the Torrente Büt river at Caneva. From here, the route follows the cycle path for a few meters and later the pass road up to Fusea. The idyllic village of Fusea is situated on a small high plateau and offers panoramic highlights. The route then continues towards the Torbiera di Curiedi biotope and then past Stavoli Nogladine before you finally push your way to the summit from the access road. The highest point is reached at an altitude of just under 1023 meters above sea level. The summit itself is framed by a concrete foundation and offers fantastic views to the south.

The trail descent is just as fantastic. You can ride the ascent route and then rock the trail towards Biotopo Torbiera di Curiedi. Difficulty here is in the S2 range. At the Biotopo Torbiera di Curiedi, continue to the Curiedi Rock Garden. A historic trail with a difficulty of S2 leads down to Fusea. At Fusea, you pass through the small village before continuing on the El Rio trail. This is relatively easy to ride except for a short section of pushing. The reward is a natural pool if there is enough water. The difficulty here is similar to the upper section, with the descent ending in the village of Casanova and finally taking the cycle path back to the starting point.
