Monte Covria – Planecis-Trail

Monte Covria - Darkside

Monte Covria offers mountain bikers some interesting ascents and descents. The northern route is one of the most difficult and technically demanding descents and should only be attempted in dry conditions.

Description

The mountain bike tour begins in the small village of Avasinis. In typical Friulian style, the trail leads steadily uphill through limestone walls and along an asphalt road built there, passing through small hamlets until it reaches the saddle. There, mountain bikers will find the signpost for Malga Cuar and Monte Covria. Then you enter the access road heading east on gravel with moderate inclines and reach a fork in the road. The path to the summit is on the right, and the entrance to the trail is on the left. Mountain bikers have a choice: either they enter the Avaginaz Enduro Trail directly or they continue on to the summit. Those who decide to go to the summit will reach a mountain with great views, which really shows off the Tagliamento, with a very interesting trail descent. This is not too difficult at the beginning and settles at a difficulty level of S2. At the fork in the forest road, you will come across the Avaginaz Enduro Trail, which offers sections ranging from S2 to S3 and should definitely be dry. The stones, some of which are very slippery and eroded, make it almost impossible to descend when wet. At this pace, you will experience an elevation loss of almost 1000 meters before arriving back in Avasinis in the residential area.
