Monte Cuarnan - Malga Cuaran 2
Description
The route starts in the small town of Gemona del Friuli. From here, you wind your way up what feels like countless serpentines with a slight incline on asphalt to Plans di Cuarnan a Bas. In parts, the ascent feels like a jungle in summer. Heavy vegetation and high temperatures add the finishing touches. From Plans di Cuarnan a Bas, the route continues on gravel to Ôrs di Cuarnan. Here on this plateau you can see as far as the Mediterranean in good weather and low humidity. This area is also used as a take-off point for paragliders. The last few meters to the summit are covered by pushing or carrying. Once you reach the summit (1370 meters above sea level), a chapel is waiting for you to take a break and enjoy the magnificent view. Countless mountain peaks and the Tagliamento lie at your feet and provide interesting insights into the foothills of the Alps.
The downhill trail from the summit towards Malga Cuarnan is just as interesting. Technically demanding and a little rough, it gets straight down to business. Special care should be taken here in wet conditions. Difficulty S2 to S3 is to be expected. From Malga Cuarnan, the route does not go to Sella Foredôr as in Monte Cuarnan 1, but directly up the Troi di Cjarârs to the water crossing of Torrente Vegliato. A difficulty of S2 to S3 can also be expected here. From the crossing of the river, the top trail towards Monte Cumieli is an absolute highlight with a difficulty of S1 to S2. Due to the low incline, hardly any Elevation loss is wasted and an eternal trail firework is offered. The route then leads back below Monte Cumieli to the starting point, where the ingenious tour comes to an end.
