The area around the Kanin has a dark past with countless victims of the First World War. Today, the network of trails from this period provides an incredible infrastructure for mountain bikers.

Description

The tour begins west of Stolvizza in the impressive Val Resia. First, the route leads on asphalt to Stolvizza before a short downhill over the Torrente Resia. The ascent then rides steadily uphill to Malga Coot. Even during the ascent, there are spectacular views of the Kanin and the imposing mountain panorama of Val Resia. From Malga Coot, the route continues across the upper Berdo hut to Casera Canin. Some sections are rideable, but overall it is a mix of pushing and carrying. The Casera Bivacco Canin is picturesquely situated in the landscape and offers a breathtaking panorama to the west.

This is where the first descent on Sentiero 642 begins. The trail is classified as difficulty S2-S3, as key sections with karst rock, beech leaves and roots repeatedly provide challenges. This first downhill is followed by another ascent on gravel to Malga Tanaromi. This idyllic mountain pasture is located on the southern slopes of the Kanin, which dominates the landscape in the north and embeds the Val Resia in the south.

The second descent then begins on Sentiero 634. This starts at difficulty level S2, but then becomes increasingly technical with some artificial structures and push sections up to S3/S4. In the lower section in particular, countless hairpin bends and key sections make for a challenging but feasible descent - especially for technically experienced bikers. From Località Ladina, a short flow trail leads back to the starting point, bringing the tour to a close.

Conclusion: A varied and adventurous tour at the head of the Val Resia valley, which impresses with its stunning natural scenery and historical background.
