Monte Jama

Monte Jama

Monte Jama at the beginning of the Raccolana Valley, near Chiusaforte, offers a spectacular trail descent to the south-east and a fantastic panoramic view of the canal valley.

Description

The route starts in the small village of Chiusaforte in the canal valley. From here, you wind your way along the main road through the Raccolana Valley. After a lake, turn left onto an old military road that climbs gently and then moderately steeply uphill to the small village of Patocco. The somewhat enchanted village is well hidden and embedded in the mountain ranges and offers typical style from this area. You can top up your water reserves in Patocco before pushing and carrying yourself up to the summit of Monte Jama. Once you reach 1168 meters above sea level, you descend a few meters before reaching a meadow where you can enjoy a legendary view. When the thermals are good, there are also some paragliders here who use the mountain for their sport.

The descent runs in the upper section on difficulty levels S1 to S2 up to the transition, before heading south-east along an old military road to Raccolana. At difficulty levels S2 to S3, even S4 in places, there are some key passages to master before returning to civilization. All in all, a harmonious tour with a high solitude factor and trail fun in the heart of the canal valley.
