Monte Vualt
Description
The route starts near the small village of Pradis north of Moggio Udinese. From here, the route winds steadily uphill on asphalt to the former military building (hospital) at almost 1400 meters above sea level. Even the path to this building takes you deeper and deeper into the Carnic Alps. From the military building onwards, you can only make progress by pushing, sometimes even pedaling. You continue in the same way up to the highest point of the tour, Monte Vualt and the Cjasut dal Sior hut. A few meters further north and you reach a fabulous viewpoint. Views as far as the Austrian border, towards the Nassfeld Pass, as well as south towards Resiutta and the foothills of the Alps are guaranteed on a clear day.
Then a real highlight begins. Over a total length of around 1750 meters above sea level up to 700 meters above sea level, the trail descends a military path from the First World War on difficulty levels S1 to S2. Breathtaking panoramic views paired with countless hairpin bends and flow passages make you lose the meters of altitude gained with joy. A breathtaking experience that is not served up every day. Once you arrive in Dordolla, the route follows a historic path of difficulty S2 to S3 directly over the Torrente Aupa to the main road. You then roll back along this road to the starting point. A tip for the tour in summer: take enough water reserves with you for the uphill and downhill sections, as well as swimwear for a dip in the cool water at the Torrente Aupa and the legendary waterfalls.

October 3, 2025: worthwhile tour, but 1500 m elevation gain and long ascent in total, view and trail at the top a dream, three short counter ascents, then in the forest eternal flow banging without technical difficulties...almost too easy. Instead of heading straight to the road, we climbed another 80 m in the village to take another beautiful S2 trail down into the valley
Tour made on 29.05.25.
The climb always has steep ramps. The landscape is a dream.
Fantastic panorama at the summit and at the hut! The
trail is really fun. Pure natural flow.
Dordolla, what a beautiful mountain village.
