Picco Peloso – Ricovero Igor Crasso

Picco Peloso

The Picco Pelos with the Ricovero Igor Crasso is one of the top tours in Val Resia with a spectacular trail descent.

Description

Start at the entrance to Val Resia near the village of Povici di sotto. Picturesquely nestled at Torrente Resia, turquoise-blue pools already shimmer out and are more reminiscent of the Caribbean than a bike tour in Friuli. From here, the main road on asphalt runs alongside the stream to San Giorgio, climbing steadily and comfortably. Cycle around San Giorgio and continue towards Prato. At Prato, turn left onto a partly steep, concreted forest path that rides directly to Stalli Perachiaze. At the San't Antonio war memorial, the route then descends a little on gravel and then climbs up a few hairpin bends through the beech forests at a medium to moderate gradient before reaching the small hamlet of Carnizza. Picturesquely nestled here, you already have some deep views of the Kanin massif and the Val Resia. There are countless paths along the way, the reason for this was the First World War, as an infrastructure was built here for the soldiers. Today, these paths are perfect for mountain lovers. From Carnizza, you can pedal a few more meters before pushing/carrying your bike up the Alpini path to Picco Peloso and on to the small Ricovero Igor Crasso hut. The uphill is picturesque and very deserted, as is the arrival at the highest point. Bearded vultures are not uncommon here and ibex can also be seen.

The descent on this epic route is on difficulty S1 and S2 and is difficult to describe in words. An old mule track leads past Lommig and steadily downhill towards Localitá Pustigost. The flow is hard to beat in places, but in some places you have to adjust your speed in a controlled manner to get to the end of the bend. At Localitá Pustigost, you then cross the foot of the mountain on a small cross-country trail before finally pedaling out of the valley again on the asphalt main road. Towards Localitá Tapar Tigo, you then take a multi-terrain trail that runs parallel to Torrente Resia and offers a nice end to the tour with a few up- and downhills.

Wöldklasse!

I rode the tour on 17.08.24. Pleasant ascent in the forest even in high temperatures. Beautiful views again and again on the ascent.
The amount of carrying is limited.
You are also rewarded here with a great panorama!

The trail is absolutely amazing! You literally fly over the trail. I would say that it has one or two S3 sections. The trail really has everything to offer. You're in a beautiful landscape here (watch out: there are fantastic pools on the way down).
You should also take the last trail from Localita, despite the small counter-climbs. Wonderful flow.

A tour that I will definitely ride again. Thank you for this tour Mr. Depauli
