Monte Cesariis – Karibik Trail
Description
The mountain bike tour begins in Moggio Udinese, where you start by warming up on asphalt. The first challenging section rides along the southern slope below Monte Cesariis. Here you follow an old military road, which has now mutated into a mule track, and reach the Balcon di Provezi viewpoint. From there, you can enjoy a magnificent view before riding down the first descent trail to Forca di Moggessa.
The descent is initially classified as S2 and leads down to Forca di Moggessa. From there, the difficulty increases slightly and the route follows trails with difficulty levels S2 to S3 to the village of Moggessa di Quá. The abandoned villages, which suffered their fate in an earthquake in the 1970s and are now only sporadically populated, provide a fascinating backdrop for the tour.
The trail continues in a similar manner with a few counter-climbs to Moggessa di Lá and across the Torrente Glagno to Stavoli. In Stavoli, located on a small plateau, there is a section on a paved trail before the trail continues at difficulty level S2 and finally arrives at Torrente Glagno. This beautiful mountain stream, with its white sand and turquoise-blue pools, is reminiscent of Caribbean landscapes and offers perfect conditions for cooling off in summer.
Then cross the railroad line and take the Strada per Stavoli to the valley exit to Campiolo. The return journey takes you along a military road, past some "lost places" from the Second World War.

Cool tour suggestion and scenically exciting. Overall much more difficult and also more demanding than the description indicates. There are 1080 m in my recording, the section Moggessa di Là to Stavoli is 90% on foot (from my S2/3 view down mostly unrideable, up 200 m with carrying/pushing) and takes time with previous difficulties.
There is a restaurant in Moggessa di Là: https://www.facebook.com/ristoroalle4fontane! If you plan to go there, check the opening time beforehand.
