Raschötz – Seceda
Description
Ride downhill from Wolkenstein to St. Ulrich and take the Raschötz cog railroad here. Once at the top, turn left onto a path and ride up to Ausserraschötz - you have to push your bike for the last 50 meters to get to the summit. From here you have a sensational view of the surrounding mountains and the Adige Valley. Then traverse along the path along the ridge and head left to the Flitzer Scharte. Now take the small, lower trail into the forest. You soon come to a forest road and ride along it to the Brogglessattel saddle. The first brisk descent begins here on the right. The gravel trail descends quickly and not too difficult until you reach the Seceda cable car. Take this up and ride down the gravel road on the right at the top. Continue past the Sofie huts on trail 2B to the Pieralonga hut. After the hut, continue left on the 2B trail until the next descent begins. It is now stony and gravelly and quite steep in places, but everything is easy to ride. Once you reach the bottom, it's time to stop off at the Ncisles hut. Refreshed, you roll down the gravel road, keep left at a fork and a very steep ramp soon follows up to the Juac hut. After the hut, you come to a small, technical downhill trail that repeatedly crosses the forest road. Past a small pond, the steep trail begins straight ahead and meets a tarred road at the end. From here you roll back to Selva Gardena.
Note: There are many hikers in the Seceda area. Preferably tackle this section at off-peak times and not during the main holiday season.
