Sella Ronda (Uhrzeigersinn)

Sella Ronda

The Sella Ronda is one of the great mountain bike classics in the Dolomites - once around the Sella massif combined with mountain railway transportation. The clock-pointer version is the more popular of the two Sella Ronda variants because it hardly includes any ascent altitude meters.

Description

The Sella Ronda can be started anywhere around the Sella massif: Selva Gardena in Val Gardena, Canazei in Val di Fassa, Arraba or Corvara in Alta Badia are all good starting points. In this case, it is Selva Gardena where you start the circular tour with the Dantercepies cable car. The panorama high above the Gardena Pass is simply magnificent, but we are here for the downhill trails! The first one starts right at the mountain station - an agile single trail specially designed for mountain bikers, which rides over the Gardena Pass down to the valley station of the Fodom gondola lift. From here, gravel paths are on the agenda as far as the nearby Col Alto cable car in Corvara. Take the lift up, then roll down a little to the chairlift and take this for the remaining meters in altitude to then reach Pralongià under your own steam via Piz Bioch. The scenery with the Sella massif, Marmolada and Fanes is simply breathtaking. But the focus is now back on the single trails. One such trail leads down to Passo Incisa and from there onwards in a flowing manner to the valley station of the Campolongo chairlift. This is the fourth of a total of seven cable car rides. Once at the top, the single trail from the Rifugio Becs de Roces to Arabba awaits - a winding fun ride, with only the last section down to the village having to be tackled on a gravel road.

In Arabba, the return trip to Selva Gardena is on the opposite side of the Sella massif. To do this, take the cable car up to Porta Vescovo and from here climb over to the Pordoi Pass on a singletrail. A little below the top of the pass, you reach the road. But instead of cycling straight up to the culmination point, take the wonderful singletrail down to Fodom and then take the cable car to the top of the pass. This is the transition to Val di Fassa, known for its numerous mountain bike trails. On one of these, you now head down to Lake Lupo Bianco, take another section of singletrack under your wheels until the last short section to the center of Canazei rides along a gravel road. You then roll along the cycle path to the neighboring village of Campitello.

The final stage of the Sella Ronda is coming up, so take the gondola lift up to Col Rodella. Here, it's essential to take in the unique backdrop of the Sella massif, Sassolungo and Marmolada once again. You then roll down to the Passo Sella Mountain Resort on gravel roads and climb a little further up to the top station of the Grand Paradiso chairlift - the starting point of the brilliant final descent to Selva Gardena. This initially consists of the Gran Paradiso Trail and then the Easy Jumpline. Both trails are exceptionally attractive and form an excellent end to the Sella Ronda. From the end of the trail in Plan del Gralba, it is finally a gravel road cat's jump to Selva di Val Gardena.

Note: This clockwise version of the Sella Ronda corresponds to the official version overall, but is enriched with a few additional single trails in the ride version.
