Binntal | Ride MTB

Binntal

The Binntal is one of the most idyllic and remote valleys in the Upper Valais. All is still right with the world here. The bike tour rides from Fiesch to the very back of the valley and back primarily on single trails.

Description

From Fiesch station, the route takes you over the Rotten and via Niedernen to Ernen. Follow the road to Binn uphill to the tunnel entrance, where you take the old road high above the Binna. In Binn, follow the road to the village of Fäld and an alpine path over the Steihitta to the turn-off to Alp Schinerewyysi. The descent begins here, initially on an alpine road until a trail turns off to the right at an altitude of 1900 meters above sea level. Follow the marked hiking trail into the village of Feld and stay on the right side of the valley as far as Binn. The section to Ausserbinn rides along the ascent route. Instead of riding along the road to Ernen, climb a little higher to Binnegga and follow the Trusera-Suonen and finally the Wadnerweg to Ernen, which branches off to the left. It is now just a stone's throw back to Fiesch on the marked Wadnerweg trail.

Dangers on 25.8.2025

Beautiful scenery as hoped, the clocks tick more slowly in the Binntal and it's worth stopping every now and then to enjoy the view.

However, those expecting beautiful trails will be rather disappointed. Up to P. 1785, the entire descent (start at P. 2208) follows an alpine road. This is followed by two short trail stages, which are not very nice to ride due to the many (sometimes blocked) stones or loaded electric fences.

Stop for refreshments at Rest. Bärgkristall, good Austrian cuisine, rather high prices. Recommendation: Wiener Schnitzel, CHF 40.00

This is followed by a bike ban. Solution: to Camping Giessen and over the bridge.

We rode the tour on July 26, 2022. Cycling is prohibited between Fäld and Holzerhiischere. We rode to the campsite on the right of the Binna, crossed the bridge at the campsite and then left of the Binna to Binn.

Tour made on 30.06.20. Very beautiful valley. Tour itself unfortunately no single trail, only forest road. We tried the hiking trail from Weissbach to Rest. Imfeld. Too many carrying passages. Overall very exhausting and material-consuming. Not recommended.
