Mini-Bahnentour Aletsch

Bahnentour Aletsch Märjelen Fieschergletscher

The Mini Bahnentour Aletsch is the little sister of the Bahnentour Aletsch and rides along four of the best trail descents in the Aletsch Arena. From Märjelen via Martisberg, Bettmerhorn and Goppisberg to the final descent via Ried-Mörel, the route adds up to almost 6000 Elevation loss, with only 460 vertical meters to be climbed under your own steam.

Description

From the Fiescheralp, you reach the Märjelensee after an ascent of around 200 meters. The first descent begins at the Tälligrat. A few steps in the rocky terrain require full concentration before a short counter-climb is tackled by pushing. Soon after, you turn left and find yourself on the descent that rides past Alp Matt to Fieschertal. This section is long, varied and often dusty in the lower part.

The second descent also starts on the Fiescheralp. A gravel path leads to Laxerstafel, where a fun trail begins next to the road and rides along the slope into the forest. At a junction, keep left and follow the single trail downhill in numerous hairpin bends over deep forest soil. The continuation of the descent offers the opportunity to loosen up your hands before the last section becomes even more challenging and you roll along the valley floor to Betten. Within a few minutes, you can reach Bettmeralp by cable car and ride up to the Bettmerhorn.

The longest and most challenging descent, especially in the upper section, initially follows the ridge. The trail then becomes smoother and rides past the Blausee lake to Riederalp. An old, partly bumpy but first-class alpine trail leads to the village of Goppisberg and on to Mörel. The mountain railroad from Mörel to Riederalp serves as an ascent aid for the fourth and final descent of the tour. The trail rides through the Riederwald forest to above Ried-Mörel. You reach the village on meadow paths and follow the slope along a narrow path to Mörel.

Awesome thing! Rode today, had the trail almost to ourselves and that on a Sunday! A detour to the "Platta" viewpoint is worthwhile. Magnificent view of the Aletsch glacier. Just turn left at the Märjelen lake. It's worth starting the whole tour early in the morning at 0800 to avoid stress. Unless you ride at an extremely high level or don't take breaks ;-) Cheers!

Thanks ride for putting together the Bahnentour. Rode it today (July 28). Simply awesome 😎🤙🏽
Trailbell makes life easier with the hikers.

For bikers who ride less difficult trails, I recommend watching my video in this area. https://youtu.be/D4sR1RllcuY E Mountain Bike Tour Fieschergletscher
