Märjelensee

Märjelen-Trail Aletsch Arena Wallis

The Aletsch region also has first-class single trails to offer away from the glacier view. On the route from Fiescheralp to Brig, you can have a lot of fun with little effort.

Description

From the top station of the Fiescheralp gondola lift, follow the little road towards Märjelensee and reach it through a tunnel. A detour to the Platt viewing point is a must here; there are few other places where you can see the Aletsch Glacier as impressively as from here. The long descent begins at Märjelensee. There is only a short climb up to the Tälligrat, then the singletrail winds its way through the steep terrain and later rides almost flat to the avalanche barriers. Immediately before these, the route turns left and a singletrail winds its way downhill in countless bends to Alp Bärg. A few more meters of ascent are required until the trail rides downhill again after the passage through the Milibach. Passing Alp Stirnig, you finally reach the bisse high above Fiesch and follow it out of the valley to Lax. To avoid having to follow the main road to Brig, you now have to climb another 400 meters in altitude. At Ritti, the ascent is complete, the route continues to Betten and from there downhill on the hiking trail to Breiten and Mörel. You finally reach Brig along the main road and later the Veloland route.

Cool tour 😊
Make sure you go through the tunnel first, the path is signposted with a bike sign.
I took the bike to the viewpoint as there are small stretches that can be ridden
The descent is great, there is also a signposted one right next to the cable car.
After the stream you have to walk up a bit and then it goes down again. For me, not everything was rideable but still fun
At the top above Fiesch there was a sign prohibiting bikers at the Suone, which I respected and took the detour. After the last climb, there are more fun trails which are also signposted with a bike sign
All in all, it's definitely worth it, especially the view of the Matterhorn from the glacier is phenomenal
I was there alone on a Sunday despite the postcard weather...
I finished the ride in Mörel and didn't find the ride next to the road that exciting

Cool tour. Make sure you take the detour to Platta (in my opinion it makes more sense to walk). The descent is absolutely great.

Super tour with lots of variety. Alternatively, you can start at Bettmeralp, where transportation by gondola is included in the GA travelcard. The 15-minute walk from the Gletscherstube to Platta is also worthwhile for a breathtaking view.

Super nice tour. I started in Bettmeralp in the direction of Fiescheralp and then continued as described. The top section after the Gletscherstube is challenging, but surprisingly it was mostly rideable (in dry weather). Beware, after the small wooden bridge over the Milibach there is a newly built, very narrow hiking trail, which I accidentally got onto. The path then became so narrow that I had to carry it. So after the Milibach, I kept right and took the steep uphill section. In my opinion, the lower part from Bärg couldn't keep up with the upper part, which is really brilliant!
