Saflischpass - Breithorn
Description
The route starts in Rosswald, which can be reached from Brig first by post bus and then by cable car. This way you get 1150 meters of altitude difference for free. But then it's straight down to business! A super steep ski slope road leads to the Fleschbode and on to the Speichersee. Now the route flattens out and rides as a single trail up to the Saflisch Pass (2562 meters above sea level). The trail is always easy to ride uphill, with the occasional push section. The Saflischpass is the first highlight of the tour, from here a flowing path rides down to the small road. On this, you climb another 120 meters in altitude to the crossing above Furggerchäller. The detour up to the Breithorn is worthwhile here - the singletrail to the summit can be ridden continuously with sufficient strength in the calves, except for one section. The view at the top of the broad mountain peak is fantastic and leads from the Aletsch region to Monte Rosa and on to Monte Leone and the Blinnnenhorn.
The descent starts super smoothly on the ascent trail, but from the saddle it gets very steep and rough. The section up to the tree line is a technical challenge. In the forest, the trail remains steep, but becomes smoother with increasing distance and ultimately turns out to be fun par excellence. In this way, you descend over 1400 Elevation loss down to Bächerhäusern and on to Grengiols. That's the end of the descent, for the return trip to Brig you roll down to Mörel and then along the valley floor to Brig. You never have to ride on the main road.

From Rosswald extremely steep push up, from Saflischpass sensational, view of Breithorn incredible!
Down another route via hiking trails down to Sickerkeller-Heiligkreuz-Ernen-Fiesch (#1174 backwards). Great!
Attention, ready, super steep... push. At least for mere mortals. After 300 meters (mostly pushing) it gets better. The traverse is very beautiful. You can climb the Breithorn - great view - but you don't have to. The trail is steep and great. Not recommended in wet conditions.
