Breithorn - Binntal-Trails
Description
From the small village of Grengiols between Fiesch and Mörel, a small road leads to the "Bächerhyschere", where the extremely long and tough ascent begins shortly after the village. From Grengiols railroad station, there are a total of over 1700 vertical meters to conquer, from here there are another 1400, on which a forest road leads up to the pass below the Breithorn via no less than 14 serpentine bends. On the ridge, follow the marked hiking trail to the summit of the Breithorn at almost 2600 meters above sea level. The view from up here is impressive, with the Unesco World Heritage Site of the Aletsch region opposite and the idyllic Goms to the right and the famous Binntal valley just below. The descent into the Saflischtal valley is on the alpine road for less experienced riders, while more technically experienced bikers take the challenging hiking trail to Alp Sickerchäller. Both variants now lead out of the valley, with the hiking trail to Heiligkreuz soon branching off to the right for the more demanding. The moderate route leads along the alpine road. In Heiligkreuz, follow the trail slightly above the little road, which takes you to the access road to Binn and instead of going through the tunnel, follow the old road high above the Binna. Immediately after the lower tunnel portal, keep left to the Roman bridge and then follow the official Veloland route back to the village of Grengiols.

Situation on 04.08.24: Area near the Heiligkreuz bridge totally devastated after the storms, bridge/road washed away and no longer passable. Alternative route from Pt. 1632 with beautiful trail via Ze Binne.
Very beautiful tour. Instead of descending directly to Binn, you can also ride to the summit of the Breithorn. This is easily possible with a few passages of pushing. Alternative: At Furggerchäller, instead of going to Binn, take the route over the Saflischpass. However, this requires a little more strength reserves, but is a beautiful and worthwhile extension of this route.
