Jungu

The Moosalp is a hotspot for mountain bikers in Valais. The route into the Mattertal is the extreme variant, but a unique and spectacular experience for very experienced mountain bikers.

Description

The tour starts at Moosalp, which is best reached by post bus from Visp. From the top of the pass, follow an alpine road along the heights into the Mattertal valley. After a short trail descent, the route climbs uphill, 200 meters in altitude to be mastered on foot. The highest point is reached at the ridge, followed by a descent through extremely steep terrain to Jungen. Caution: This section should only be tackled by mountain bikers with alpine experience and a head for heights. This also applies to them: Push your bike!

From Jungen, a steep and fun alpine trail leads downhill to St. Niklaus, where you initially ride downhill on the left side of the valley. After changing sides, the trail climbs a few more meters, but then leads downhill again to Kalpetran. Here you climb up a steep path directly behind the station until you reach the high trail to Milibach. Follow this wonderful trail to the road at Stalden, pass the village and then return to Visp along the Vispa river.
