Fiescher Frühlings-Trails Aletsch Arena Wallis

The sunny slopes below Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp are usually dry and free of snow early in spring. In combination with some attractive trails on the opposite side of the valley and the use of the mountain railroad to Bettmeralp, you can ride a rewarding trail tour with plenty of Elevation loss.

Description

If possible, you can start the tour by taking the train from Fiesch to Fürgangen, which saves around 200 meters in altitude. You then cross the suspension bridge to reach Mühlebach and ride along the first trails past the Erner Galgen to the picturesque village of Ernen. You now have to climb around 200 meters in altitude on a small road. In the first hairpin bend, you ride straight ahead and reach a viewpoint slightly to the right of the hiking trail from where you can see practically the entire route ahead. Back on the path, follow this fun trail to Binnegga, then keep sharp left and take an easy high-level trail to Ausserbinn. After a short stretch of road, you leave it to the right at the entrance to the next hamlet to reach the old mule track with the Roman bridge over the Binna stream via another high-level trail. After a short climb, you reach a chapel, then immediately keep right and ride along a mixture of meadow paths, small roads and trails to Grengiols and along another trail to the cantonal road at Betten. The first part of the tour ends at the valley station of the cable car to Bettmeralp.

The tour continues after taking the aerial tramway, which rides to Bettmeralp all year round. The attractive, moderately challenging descent begins at just under 2000 m above sea level. Through the settlement of houses in Bettmeralp, you reach the trail, which rides downhill through sparse forests and across meadows past Ried and other alpine pastures. A short stretch of alpine road takes you to the single trail through the Baderwald forest to Martisberg. This is not very difficult, but it is exposed in places and requires your full attention. Once you reach Martisberg, you have to cover another 200 meters in altitude to reach the high trail to Fiesch. In a constant up and down, you reach the village of Fiesch as the end point of the tour via fun trails.

Did the tour today. Really recommended. However, if you ride at the limit with a difficulty of 2, you will be hiking quite a bit from Bettmeralp. There are some long passages that are definitely a 3.

Did the tour on 25.09.2023. It is really very worthwhile. The Binntal is beautiful. The ride through the Moorechumma and Chaschtlerwald before reaching Grengiols is the highlight of the first part of the tour in my opinion. The ride from Bettmeralp to Fiesch is extra special. The trails become more challenging but are fun for me. I would set the difficulty level to 3 in places. As in the first part, you ride away from the crowds of tourists and can enjoy nature and the trails. Thank you Ride!
