Haiaho-Trail Prättigau

Egga-Trail (Furna)

The Haiaho Trail is one of the most interesting and fun singletrail descents in the lower Prättigau and rides from Furna through the steep forest area down to the valley floor.

Description

The unexpected often happens: there is hardly a better saying for the Haiaho Trail in Prättigau. The tour begins inconspicuously with the ascent on the mountain road up to the village of Furna. Shortly before entering the village, keep right and continue uphill to a small plateau, the starting point of the descent back to the valley floor.

First, you roll along gravel roads for a short time before the first, fun trail section (S2) begins. This leads into another steep gravel road, which takes its toll for a short time. But the effort doesn't last long: the entrance to the Haiaho Trail soon branches off to the right.

What follows is a real surprise. The trail meanders through steep terrain on a predominantly S2 level with a few S3 sections. It is excellently laid out, well maintained and always offers unobstructed views down to the valley floor near Jenaz. Flowing passages alternate with technically challenging sections. The Haiaho Trail stretches all the way down into the valley, leaving astonished faces in its wake: who would have thought that this inconspicuous corner of the Prättigau could offer such a successful descent?

I combined this tour with the Stelserberg. Both tours are easy to do on an e-bike. The climb is pleasant, though it gets very hot in nice weather since it’s south-facing and all paved road. Downhill: really fun to ride, BUT the trail past the Eggen trail sign (1340 m) no longer exists. So I just took the direct hiking trail down to Schiers. After a forest road, it gets really good—lots of tight hairpin turns and a blast to ride. But Davos is just a whole different ballgame!
