Prättigauer Höhenweg - offizielle Route
Description
After the Postbus ride to St. Antönien, the adventure begins with the asphalt ascent up to the Bergli, the striking hut by the avalanche barriers that catches the eye even from far below. There are around 700 vertical meters to conquer here.
The road ends at the hut and the route switches to singletrack. The route now continues uphill to a picturesque mountain lake. The path is well maintained and mostly rideable with a little muscle power. After the lake, you roll along a wonderful high-level trail, always along the mountain flank, to the Garschina hut. The imposing building at the foot of the Sulzfluh can be seen from afar and almost automatically draws the eye.
Just below the Garschina hut begins the Prättigauer Höhenweg, a super trail directly below the striking rock towers. Here you feel like you've been transported to the Dolomites in places. The trail is mostly at difficulty level S2, with regular sections at level S3, and rides to just below the Schweizertor. There, the Prättigauer Höhenweg branches off to the right towards the Schesaplana hut. However, keep left and stay on the signposted route. A strong path leads down to Grüscher Älpli.
The official route then descends via Schuders to Schraubach and follows this to Schiers, mostly on less exciting gravel roads. The descent becomes more attractive if you traverse from Grüscher Älpli to Alp Drusa and then use the path via Salfsch for the descent to Schraubach. This adds another nice section of singletrail after the alp. At the bottom of the valley, you finally follow the official route to Schiers.
