Monte Costello (Sestri Levante)

The somewhat inconspicuous Monte Costello north of Sestri Levante offers usable panoramic views along the Ligurian coast and a varied and technical trail descent.

Description

The tour starts in the small town of Sestri Levante, a charming seaside resort with a west-facing, urban district. From there, you follow the Torrente Gromolo in a northerly direction along Via Villa Rocca. The path then winds steadily uphill, first towards Montedomenico and later on to Villa Loto. The asphalt Uphill is typical of Liguria: it has a steady gradient, is pleasant to ride and leads to the Villaggio Loto - San Bernardo junction. There you change to an unpaved gravel road, which continues towards Monte Costello.

From Monte Costello, depending on the vegetation, beautiful panoramic views open up and at the same time the start of a varied trail descent. Initially, the route is quite relaxed at difficulty level S1 along the Costa Serba, almost with a touch of jungle book feeling. In the Bivio Sant'Anna - Mimosen area, the trail becomes a little more technical and runs over gravel and rock slabs through sparse vegetation. Towards the end, the difficulty increases to S2 to S3, accompanied by an outstanding panorama. Finally, you reach the starting point in Sestri Levante again via the last, more technically demanding meters.

Conclusion: A varied tour with a moderate altitude profile - ideal as a half-day tour for technique lovers with a preference for Ligurian flair.
