Monte Costello

Liguria by Filip Zuan

Sestri Levante is a wonderfully romantic place on the Ligurian coast - but it also has a lot of single trails to offer. For example, the Mimosa Trail from Monte Costello. Local mountain bikers ensure perfect trail quality here.

Description

From Sestri Levante, you climb up to San Bernardo on an asphalt road. In a left-hand bend, a gravel road branches off to the left and rides up to the summit of Monte Costello at just under 500 meters above sea level. This is where the descent begins. In the upper section, the path is extremely flowy and fast. Only further down does the Mimosa Trail become more challenging and rougher, but it is still excellent to ride. The descent effectively ends right on the beach at Baia delle Favole.

Tip: There are many other attractive singletrail descents from Monte Costello and Monte Capenardo, which is a little further inland.

Wonderful (mostly technical) trails from Monte Costello. You can actually go down wherever you want - and you'll be thrilled. In the evening you can soak up the adrenaline rush in the sea :-)

There are several trails that start from Monte Castello and every ascent is worthwhile. Ca Gianca is said to be the most difficult.
