Monte Tambone Ost (Laconella-Trail)
Description
From the parking facilities at the Laconella campsite, follow the gravel road uphill along the coast. At a small plateau, follow the gravel road uphill to the left until you reach the ridge at an altitude of around 330 meters and follow the signposted route to the summit of Monte Tambone. From up here, you have a beautiful panoramic view over the bay of Lacona all the way to Marina di Campo.
From the summit, you descend a few meters along the ascent route before reaching the trail entrance on the left. Now the trail leads through the maquis, sometimes less and sometimes more washed out. Fun rocky passages alternate with flowing sections. At a large clearing, keep to the right and briefly follow the gravel road from the ascent downhill until the trail disappears into the thicket on the left. The second section offers more flow passages on sandy ground, but also entices with a few more difficult sections that are at S2 level. In between, there are always great views of the sea and the coast. After a bumpy finale, the trail spits you out again directly on the road with parking facilities.

The climb is a bit challenging at first due to the coarse gravel, but it’s doable if you put in the effort; it gets easier after that. The two sections of the descent are indeed a bit rough. Even with good line choice, I had to put a foot down or push briefly here and there. You really have to enjoy S2+ level challenges here—if you do, it’s great.
This route can easily be combined with the Napoleon Loop
Super cool short loop. Pretty well described, mostly flowy, a few washed out and blocked sections, but rideable.
The tour offers many beautiful views of the sea. On the descent, the flowing passages are the exception, otherwise there are lots of loose stones, rocky steps and deep ditches. Some more difficult than expected.
The trail is quite washed out after rainfall. We would therefore describe it as black before the clearing.
Some loose stones and difficult passages below.
