Vojak
Description
The route starts in the small historic town of Lovran on the Kvarner Bay near Rijeka. From here, you wind your way uphill on asphalt to the Poklon Pass. After just a few meters in altitude, you leave the hustle and bustle of the coastal road and immerse yourself in a historical and scenic world that you will find almost nowhere else in the Alps. Legendary views, interesting architecture and endless tranquillity await you on the seemingly endless climb up to the pass. Once you arrive at Poklon, you can replenish your water reserves and explore some historic buildings before continuing on asphalt to the highest point of the tour, the summit of Vojak. At 1400 meters above sea level, you are greeted by a lookout tower built in 1911 by an Austrian tourist club. You have to climb it to enjoy the legendary view. The whole of Istria County, the entire Kvarner Bay, the island of Krk and Cres lie at your feet. Hours could be spent here, but you shouldn't linger too long, because the trail of a good 1400 Elevation loss at a stretch wants to be conquered.
Gracefully, the trail begins with a difficulty of S2 to S3 and leads down to the Poklon Pass. No mistakes are forgiven on a historic trail and full concentration is required. The route then continues south along a forest road before taking the path on the left, the Direttissima to Lovran. An enduro-heavy trail that couldn't be better. Hairpin bends, rock steps, roots, flow passages, all well packed into one and endlessly long. In the area of the settlements, the trail takes on a completely different shape. Countless concreted steps are rolled down before you finally return to civilization in Stari Grad in the old town of Lovran.
