Kamenita Vrata – Military-Trail
Description
The starting point is the coastal town of Crikvenica. The hustle and bustle of the town is immediately left behind as you pedal relaxed towards Lake Tribalj. Depending on the volume of traffic, bikers can choose whether to cycle on the asphalted main road or on side roads to the reservoir. The route takes you past Trialj to the reservoir for a leisurely warm-up roll. You then pass Drivenik Castle, which is a real visual highlight, before reaching Mali Dol and finally tackling a short uphill section on gravel on an old military road. You then enter the hinterland and cross the ridge for half an eternity before reaching the viewpoint where the paragliders take off. For an altitude of just under 750 meters above sea level, the panorama is breathtaking.
Now it's not far and the trail entrance to the Kamenita Vrata Downhill begins. A former military road from the Second World War has since been converted into a bike trail and is a perfect descent in the region. The route descends on difficulty levels S2 to S3, thanks to the loose stones. With a short counter-climb to the village of Blaskovici and then the Kostelj Spust downhill to the valley floor. You then return to the starting point on the so-called "love trail".
Ideally, the tour should be completed in spring or fall. Note: It is not recommended in the summer months due to the extreme heat and heavy vegetation.
