Wandelalp
Description
In Meiringen, you start along the cycle route to the village of Balm, where the long ascent begins. There are 25 hairpin bends on the little road up to the upper Wandelalp. The last section in particular is very steep. After all, it is only a stone's throw from the highest alpine settlement to the small crossing into the Reichenbach valley. This lovely region with its meadows interspersed with open woodland and small lakes is a nature reserve. You are not allowed to leave the trail on your bike, and where it is a little boggy, you descend and push for a few meters. The following descent is top class. The trail winds its way through the impressive landscape, with the Engelhörner peaks towering into the sky opposite. The singletrail fun comes to an end at the upper Stafelalp, where the route now rides downhill along the alpine path to the banks of the Rychenbach stream. Follow the mountain road out of the valley for a few meters and then turn left in Zwirchi towards Falcheren. The old access road takes you back to Meiringen via Reichenbach.
Alternatives: The single trail from Seilialp to Biel is not recommended and can only be ridden well in a few places
Tip: Leave your bike at the culmination point and walk to Gyresprung. Here you have a phenomenal view of Lake Brienz and the Haslital

We rode this tour on 06.10.18. The scenery is very beautiful and, with the exception of two short ramps, the ascent is also pleasantly rideable. However, the descent is disappointing. A great trail at the start, but only really short. After that, a lot of altitude is lost on forest roads and similar paths. I estimate the proportion of singletrack to be around 10%. Not much downhill fun. Would not do the tour again.
