Älggialp Nord
Description
The starting point for the ascent to Älggialp is the village of Sachseln. The little road rides from Edisried into the Kleine Melchtal valley. Where the path descends again, you continue uphill on an alpine road and finally reach Alp Älggi. The highest point has not yet been reached, with a further 300 vertical meters to go until the transition between Hanen and Wengenhorn. The last part of the ascent is tough and the deep ditch forces you to push on the last few meters. Once you reach the inconspicuous crossing, the view opens up into the valley basin of Alp Wengen, high above Lake Sarnen. The trail is narrow and demands sophisticated riding skills on the first 150 vertical meters with tight hairpin bends, but is a lot of fun to ride in between. This is followed by a rather rough and in places unkempt section across a meadow to Alp Wengen. From there, follow the path on the right-hand side of the slope and, after a short climb in the opposite direction, take the descent, which is again challenging in places, along a forest path to a clearing. Following the track, you reach an old path that leads through a short section of forest to the next meadow and continues downhill, crossing the road. At Alp Ober Mus, follow the road to the right for almost two kilometers and turn onto the trail known locally as "Hundebiss" (dog bite) at Alp Ober Schwanden. Sometimes fast, sometimes winding, the path meanders through the forest and spits you out just above Sachseln. The return to Sachseln is via small roads and finally through residential areas.

I see it the same way. Also, the stretch of trail/section immediately before the
between Hanen and Wengenhorn is almost non-existent and not really rideable. On the descent, the countless cattle turnstiles and fence passages spoil the fun.
Certainly not suitable for e-bikes, and not recommended for normal bikes either. Lots of carrying/pushing passages, vehicle grids, little or no flow. The path to Alp Wengen is full of slate stones and loose scree, we would rate it as unrideable. Conclusion: Very beautiful scenery, hardly any hikers, but little flow so that the tour would be rated positively. Once done, certainly not again.
