Passo Zebrù | Ride MTB

Passo Zebrù

The Passo Zebrù is a classic among mountain bike tours and leads to the pass of the same name near Bormio, which is over 3000 meters high.

Description

From the valley station of the cable car in Bormio, the asphalt road or the cable car leads up to the Bormio 2000 middle station. At the middle station, you cross the ski slope, with the forest path to Santa Caterina starting just behind it. There you first cross a plateau to the campsite and then up to the Rifugio Forni and on to the Rifugio Pizzini at over 2700 meters above sea level. From there, turn left up a steep trail to Passo Zebrù. The trail down through the Val Zebrù is challenging but, apart from one narrow section, is complete and easy to ride. After a long stretch on an alpine road, turn right up to Fantelle, where you follow the mountain trail to just above Bormio. Pass the ruins and head straight into the village center.

Alternatives: Alternatively, you can also take a cab from the Stelvio National Park to Rifugio Forni or Rifugio Pizzini.

We booked the alpine shuttle for four to Rifugio Pizzini, 30 euros per person is pretty cheap. The panorama is simply overwhelming, glaciers everywhere you look, incredibly impressive.
The trail down to the valley is just great and fun and not too difficult. At one point, you have to carry your bike down briefly and you shouldn't be afraid of heights. Concentration is really required. I did this tour with the BioBike although I also had an e-bike with me. My decision proved to be a great advantage. We also met some ibex and I am incredibly enthusiastic about this tour, absolutely brilliant. If you like high alpine terrain, you should definitely do this tour!
