Passo del Alpe
Description
From the Bormio3000 valley station, take the cable car up to the Cima Bianca (3018 meters above sea level). Once you have passed the ridge, a technically challenging single trail leads past various small alpine lakes to Bocca di Profa. Continue downhill on the 518 trail and later reach Plagher di Fuori on the 523 trail. A gravel road leads to the Gavia pass a little later, where the trail branches off to the Passo del Alpe. Take the rough alpine road up to the pass. The descent through the Valle di Rezzalo begins on a singletrail, later on a gravel road and finally ends on an asphalt road. This takes you to Le Prese and back to Bormio via the old access road.

We really enjoyed the tour, clearly an enduro tour due to the train ride up to 3000m. Technically demanding, with long stretches of loose rock slabs in the upper part, some of which are badly blocked, and steep root passages in the lower part of the first descent. The intermediate ascent over the Gavro Pass road is quickly completed. The ascent on the Dynamite Trail to the Passo del Alpe is not rideable over longer sections, next time I would choose the gravel road on the other side of the stream. Finally, the biggest disappointment: the descent from Passo di Alpe to Le Prese: after just a few kilometers of trail, you come to an alpine road. From 2150m to the very bottom there are no single trails, just gravel and asphalt. It's a real shame to waste hundreds of meters of altitude in such a boring way! Alternative: from Pta. dell Alpe to the other side to Ref. Stella alpine and counter-climb on the 527, which rides up to Baite Cavallaro. Have fun 👍🇮🇹
