Passo di Verva

The Passo di Verva near Bormio is a well-known Transalp crossing, but is also suitable as a first-class day tour.

Description

From Bormio, take the old military road up towards Lake Cancano. A little below the culmination point, branch off to the left and follow the mountain path far above Valdidentro. You reach Arnoga and then climb a little way up the Val Viola. At Alpe Campo, change sides of the valley and take the gravel road into the wild alpine Val di Verva. The 2300-metre-high pass is easy to reach, and the subsequent descent via Eita rides along alpine roads and old freight tracks to Fusino. The rest of the descent to Grosio is on small roads and finally on a gravel path. The tour is over in Grosio, but the return journey to Bormio is now on the agenda. Almost 25 kilometers are now to be mastered on the old country road. Tip: Ride back to Bormio by bus.
