Buc Faraut
Description
The starting point of this alpine tour is Sant'Anna, a picturesque hamlet at the back of the Bellino Valley. The route begins with a steep climb on rough gravel, past some historic military installations of the so-called Vallo Alpino. As the altitude increases, the terrain becomes more challenging, so that the mountain bike can soon only be pushed or carried.
The ascent follows the U27 hiking trail steadily uphill. At a junction, do not head towards Colle di Bellino, but follow the route to Buc Faraut. The scenery here is absolutely stunning - rocky slopes, wide alpine pastures and an impressive high mountain backdrop characterize this section. There are also plenty of exciting trail sections.
On the way, mountain bikers pass abandoned military buildings and bunkers from the 1940s, which are silent witnesses to the border history of this region. From there, it is not far to the summit of Buc Faraut. The inconspicuously marked summit is definitely worth the detour: the view extends far beyond the Bellino Valley and offers an impressive panoramic view of the typical rock formations of the area.
For the descent, you use the complete ascent variant. The trail offers a varied mix of flowing and technically challenging sections. The difficulty ranges between S1 and S2, in places also S3. The trail is homogeneous and easy to ride, especially in the upper section.
Shortly before the end of the descent, you will come across some slightly exposed sections near a waterfall. The last few meters are a relaxed roll back to the starting point in Sant'Anna.
