Monte Salza
Description
The route starts in the small hamlet of San't Anna in Valle Varaita to the west of Casteldelfino. From here you pedal very steeply at first, past Grange Prato Rui, an agricultural road up to an altitude of around 2050 meters above sea level. From here, you stop pedaling for the time being and carry and push your bike. From an altitude of around 2400 meters above sea level, you cross the valley and can pedal in sections before you finally have to switch back to pushing and carrying below the striking rock faces of Monte Giuep. The route remains in this style until the summit. At Passo Mongioia (3086 meters above sea level), you have an absolute dream view for the first time. In terms of scenery, Lago Mongioia is also at the top of the list. Once you reach the summit (3326 meters above sea level), you should plan enough time to enjoy the fabulous mountain scenery. The views here are indescribable in good weather and with good visibility.
The descent is just as exclusive. Initially in big mountain style on loose stones and sand, you surf down to Lago Mongioia. There is everything from S1 to S3 difficulty here. From the lake over the yoke, there is a short pushing passage where the bike has to be carried down. The rest of the route is between difficulty levels S2 and S3. The entire ascent variant is now circled, with a difficulty level between S1 and S3. A short section (approx. 50 vertical meters) has to be descended again briefly in the intermediate area. Finally, the route leads back to the starting point below the Rocca Senghi on a great flow route.
