Burgentour
Description
The tour rides between the villages of Bundenthal, Rumbach, Nothweiler and Schönau, close to the French border, along beautiful forest paths and trails. Some of the downhill sections are on more challenging single trails with tight hairpin bends. There are always beautiful rocks to admire along the way.
The first highlight of the tour is the Bundenthal-Rumbach natural airfield "Auf dem Söller". The ride along a clearing, past the airfield, offers a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. This is followed by a longer ascent, first on a wide forest road, then steeply uphill to the right on a narrow path. This leads wonderfully through the dense forest, past smaller rocks to the Kuhnenkopf. There we ride only briefly along a wide path before turning into a spectacular, long tail. This first takes us over two difficult passages, as there are rocky ledges, and then we ride along the slope in a flowing manner and, after a hairpin bend, descend dynamically to the village of Nothweiler. In Nothweiler, you have the opportunity to take a break in a rustic restaurant. On the following ascent, we first ride steeply uphill below the Wegelnburg castle, then descend to Schönau on a challenging serpentine trail. From there, the tour rides into the Brauntal valley before returning to the starting point after a final trail descent.
